Four Day Workshop for Continuing Education Managers
Under the aegis of State Project Coordination Unit (SPCU), Directorate of Technical Education, Chennai, a four day workshop for Continuing Education Managers was conducted in our polytechnic from 22nd to 25th July 2009. 20 participants from 13 institutions enthusiastically participated in this workshop. The workshop was inaugurated by Mrs. K. Vishalakshi, SPCU Coordinator. Our Principal Dr. R. Venkatraj welcomed the gathering. Mr. S. Venkatasubramoniam, , Mr. T. Selvaraju, Mr. S.R. Muruganandam, Mrs. P. Radha and Mr. V.S. Subramanian acted as facilitators and elucidated the concepts with practical experiences.
Valedictory function of this workshop was held on 25th July 2009. Shri V.K. Jeyakodi, IAS, Commissioner of Technical Education, Chennai was the guest of honour. He delivered the valedictory address and distributed the certificates to participants. Mr. S. Venkatasubramoniam offered felicitations. Participants gave their constructive feedback.
It was an enthralling and engrossing experience for the participants. Participants were immensely benefited out of this programme. We are grateful to Honourable Commissioner of Technical Education and SPCU Coordinator for having selected our polytechnic as venue for this workshop.
CIICP Project a Brief History
Our Polytechnic was chosen as one of the 4 Project Polytechnics of Canada India Institutional Cooperation Project (CIICP) in Tamilnadu, in Replication Phase I in the year 1996. CIICP is a technical education project mandated by an MOU between the Government of Canada and India, funded by the Canadian International Development Agency and executed by the Association of Canadian Community Colleges. CIICP’s goal is to contribute to the Human Resource Development within the Indian Polytechnic System by focusing on the following areas:

Industry Institute Interaction
Workshop on “Interpersonal Skills”
Mr. R. Karthikeyan, Senior Lecturer / English and Mr. V. S. Subramanian, Senior Lecturer / Textile conducted a workshop on “Interpersonal Skills” for the benefit of supervisors of RAMCO Textile Division at Rajapalayam Mills Limited, Rajapalayam on 23rd June 2009. They covered the areas such as Interpersonal Communication, Non-verbal communication, Listening, Real People Strategy, etc.
On 18th July 2009, one more workshop on "Interpersonal Skill" was condicted at Rajapalayam Mills Ltd., for the employees of RAMCO Textile Division.
Continuing Education Centre
Continuing Education Centre, established under CIICP, is offering a number of short-term and long-term courses in technical, computer and other areas to meet the needs of Industry, Business and Community. Courses are well-received by the public. To highlight an example, the Continuing Education Centre is conducting Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing (MEP) training programs for a period of 1½ years as “Foreman Training Program” sponsored by M/s. ETA Ascon Dubai, U.A.E. It also conducts Supervisory level MEP programmes for M/s. Voltas, IOBG, Middle East.
Besides these, we offer Yarn Manufacturing Technology and Quality Control in spinning courses under evening and distance learning modes. Number of skill upgradation courses are also offered for the benefit of our students & outsiders.
Equipment Repair Cell
Equipment Repair Cell (ERC), a thrust area of CIICP, is functioning in the Polytechnic campus for servicing and maintaining equipment of Industries, Business and Society in the areas of Refrigeration and Air Conditioning, Mechanical and Electrical and Electronic Appliances. It also undertakes design and consultancy services in various areas. Apart from the external jobs, the cell is responsible for internal maintenance of the entire Institute, hostel and staff quarters as well.
