This shrine of learning was started in the year 1963 by our beloved former Chairman Shri P.R. Ramasubrahmaneya Rajha. It was established as one of the Plan Schemes under III Five Year Plan. It is affiliated to Directorate of Technical Education, Chennai and is being managed by Ramco Group of Companies under the astute leadership of P. R. Venketrama Raja, Chairman, Ramco Group. It is functioning effectively under the guidance of the Governing Council which comprises eminent personalities as its members.
Good technical education is the foundation for a secure, prosperous and exciting future of a country. As rightly observed by many educationists, 21st century pedagogy includes many things such as objectives of education, the curriculum, assessment strategies and the kind of technology and infrastructure facilities available in an institution. These factors decide the quality of the products who come out from technical education. In order to meet out the ever changing expectations of society and industry, a lot of measures are being taken at our institute. Autonomous status of our institution gives us the flexibility and freedom to update our curriculum on a par with the expectations of industries. Special industry based electives are offered to our students by entering into an MoU with leading industries. Innovative teaching methodologies are being adopted to bring out the inherent potentials of our students. Theoretical knowledge of students is very well supplemented by practical experience by providing the state-of-the-art facilities at laboratories and workshops.
All class rooms are fitted with multimedia gadgets and the availability of LCD Projectors is ensured in every classroom for the teaching-learning process to prosper. Well-maintained classrooms and environment provide a salubrious environment for the learners to learn things in a pleasant and lively manner. A well-stacked library helps the students to attain highest academic standards. The campus has adequate sports infrastructure to enable the students to display their talents in sports arena also. Forums such as Students’ Association, Institution of Engineers (India) and Indian Society for Technical Education (ISTE) provide various platforms to students to display their knowledge and skill in curricular and co-curricular activities. Continuing Education Cell of our polytechnic conducts add on courses for the benefit of students to hone their knowledge and skills. A placement cell is functioning round the clock to provide suitable placement opportunities to deserving candidates. The main focus is to empower our students with sound technical knowledge, wisdom, experience and training in order to enable them to face the hard and harsh realities of life and excel in the field of their study.
I am pleased to put on record that this renowned institution has carved out a niche among the list of top technical institutions at diploma level and surging ahead in attaining the zenith of perfection. With the unstinted support from Management and selfless efforts by our learned faculty, the institution is poised to scale many peaks in the years to come. It is my conviction that success is inevitable when foresightedness, firm determination, commitment, dedication, smart work and discipline co-exist in all our endeavours.
