About the Department
Three year full time diploma programme on Electrical and Electronics Engineering was started in the year 1963 with an intake of 40 students. The sanctioned in-take is 108 Students consisting of two batches from the year 2019 - 2020.
The students are admitted based on the 10th standard qualification and communal roaster followed in the state of Tamil Nadu. During the second year, the department admits 10% lateral entry students with Higher Secondary (Academic & Vocational) and ITI qualifications. The department has been functioning with autonomous status since the academic year 1995 – 1996 when the World Bank Project was implemented.
This department got NBA Accreditation status 4 times in the years 2001, 2008, 2012 and 2019. The faculty members are qualified, highly committed, self-motivated and well trained to disseminate the best teaching-learning process to the students catering to the needs of industries.
We have been offering Industry based Electives in collaboration with industry partners on “Solar Photovoltaic Systems" with M/s VATIO Energy India Pvt. Ltd, Chennai, “Vertical Transportation Systems" with M/s Johnson Lifts Pvt. Ltd, Chennai and "Digital Manufacturing" with M/s Saint Gobain India Pvt. Ltd, Chennai since 2017-18.
We regularly conduct Continuing Education Programmes on Electrical AutoCAD, Arduino Programming, PLC and Sensor Technology, Robotics, Electro Pneumatics and Solar Photovoltaic Technology under Canada India Institutional Cooperation Project – CIICP and Centre for High Skill Training and Research - CHSTR for diploma pursuing and undergraduate Engineering students to make them employable.
