About the Department
The Department of Textile Technology was started in the year 1963-64. It offers 3 year full time diploma in Textile Technology (DTT). 54 students are admitted in first year with 10th standard qualification. In addition to this intake, the department admits 10% lateral entry students with Hr. Sec. (Academic & Vocational). Owing to its good track record, the department was granted Autonomous Status by DOTE in the year 1976.
We were placed in the “Platinum” category by the "AICTE-CII Survey Industry-Linked Technical Institutes" conducted for the years 2015 to 2021.
The department organizes Seminars, Paper Presentation Contests, Conferences, Quiz Competitions, Mock Interviews, Entrepreneurship Development Programmes, Career Guidance Programmes, Technical Demonstrations, Model Making Contests, Industrial Visits, Film Shows, Parent-Teacher meetings and Guest Lectures.
The department offers Industry Supported Elective namely "Process Control in Spinning and Weaving" in collaboration with RAMCO Group Textile Division, Rajapalayam. We offer continuing education programs on "Yarn Manufacturing Technology" and "Quality Assurance in Spinning" for Industry participants.
We have obtained NBA accreditation thrice as detailed below.

- Accredited for 5 years from 2008 to 2013
- Accredited for 3 years from 2019 to 2022
